下午一家人坐在院子裡喝酒聊是非，托比突然大叫「What the hell is that？」

大家往他手指的方向看去，在地上爬的是隻有著鮮紅色外表但不知叫什麼名字的蟲子。﹝托比早已跑得老遠﹞

我摘了一片葉子，試著將這隻有著鮮紅色外表的生物弄到葉子上。﹝托比邊喊邊逃「Don't close to me！」﹞

經過幾番掙扎，蟲子終於被我鏟到葉子上。

小心翼翼地我端著葉子跑到廚房裡，找了個小盒子，打算養起這隻漂亮的小蟲子。

托比問我「Are you going to keep it？」

我：「Yap！Don't you think it is quite pretty？！」

托比：「But you don't know what does it eat？」

我：「Umm........ I don't care！I wanna keep it.」

為了說服膽小如鼠的托比，我搬出前人的例子。

 托比老爸曾在院子裡抓到一隻蟾蜍，他在裝冰淇淋的空盒子裡放上幾片葉子跟泥土，就這樣養起蟾蜍來。

我：「I can keep it just like your dad had kept a tart before.」

托比一臉不可置信「What？ What are you talking about？」

我：「Tart，you know，like frog.」﹝我意識到可能又說錯字了，試著解釋中﹞

托比：「You mean toad.」

殘念，果然又說錯字！

正解：

蟾蜍不是tart，而是toad；什麼是tart呢？

在英式英文中，tart有野女人或妓女的意思。

所以當我對托比說「I can keep it just like your dad had kept a tart before.」

中文解釋是「我養蟲子就像你老爸之前養野女人一樣。」

托比把拔，I am so sorry！我不是故意要打壞你的名聲的啦！
